The fastest way to weaken an Australian dive trip is to treat the country like one compact destination. Cairns, Sydney and Ningaloo belong in separate itineraries unless the trip is measured in weeks.
A useful plan concentrates on one region, places the priority diving early and keeps a flexible day for weather, recovery or a second attempt at the signature site.
Use a three-day trip for a city or established gateway with several alternatives. Plan the priority site on day one or two, then keep a sheltered or shore-based option for changing conditions.
