Flinders Pier, on Western Port rather than Port Phillip Bay, is widely regarded as Victoria's most reliable site for weedy seadragons.
The seagrass and kelp around the piles support a resident population, and the shallow depth makes for very long, relaxed dives.
Conditions differ from the Port Phillip piers — Western Port has its own tidal behaviour and the site can be affected by wind from different directions.
