Lonsdale Wall is the best-known of the Port Phillip Heads walls, dropping from around 12 metres to well beyond 90 and covered in dense sponge, sea whip and gorgonian growth.
The shallower sections are within reach of competent recreational divers on slack water; the deeper sections are a genuine technical undertaking.
As with all Heads diving, the dive happens in a slack-water window that shifts daily and is not negotiable.
