Christmas Island provides remote tropical diving with steep underwater topography. The island is the tip of a seamount, and the reef drops vertically into very deep water almost immediately offshore.
That geology produces wall diving of a kind that is rare in Australian territory, along with clear water, pelagic encounters and seasonal whale shark activity.
Travel logistics deserve substantial coverage because remote-destination diving involves considerably more planning than metropolitan weekend diving.
